Windrush 77 – Two-Day Celebration of Heritage, Music & Culture
Saturday 21st June – Landseer Park
Sunday 22nd June – Sailmakers Shopping Centre
Following the hugely successful Windrush 76 Festival, Windrush 77 returns to Ipswich for a powerful weekend of celebration, culture, and community – with brand new posters being put up around town and an exciting line-up of live performers now confirmed.
This annual Windrush event in Ipswich and commemorates 77 years since the arrival of the Windrush Generation. Backed by Arts Council England, Near Neighbours, Sainsbury’s, Sailmakers Shopping Centre, and many more, Windrush 77 will be a joyful and inclusive tribute to heritage, identity, and resilience.
SATURDAY 21ST JUNE – LANDSEER PARK 12PM–6PM
A high-energy, family-friendly festival day featuring:
- Spectacular parade led by a steel band and stilt walkers
- Ipswich Buses will be running a special service from Whitton to the town centre, continuing to Sandy Hill Lane, forming part of the parade route at 11:00 AM
- Main stage performances from national and local Main stage performances from national and local artists
- Caribbean food court and licensed bar
- Cultural shopping village with crafts and stalls
- Family zone: soft play, face painting, games, storytelling
- Wellbeing area and community hub
SUNDAY 22ND JUNE – SAILMAKERS SHOPPING CENTRE 11AM–4PM
A reflective and creative day in the heart of town:
- Spoken word, poetry, and live storytelling
- Panel talks, community discussions, and film
- Workshops for all ages
- Community market showcasing Black-owned businesses
- Performances and pop-up experiences in the Reflection Room (Micro Museum)
- A vintage 1950s bus will be parked outside Sailmakers as part of the day’s celebration — we’re also working to confirm if it will offer a pickup from Whitton on the day.
